Why can't I access Library Resources on the VPN?

The VPN is not for accessing library resources, because most library resources are not hosted on IU servers. If the library resource is linked to a vendor-hosted website, logging into the VPN will not authenticate you to that website as belonging to IU Indianapolis - the vendor website is looking for a campus IP address or the IP address of our proxy server.

Internet issues / Cloudflare Outage

Journals

University Library pursues the most cost-effective method for providing access to article-level content. In some cases, this is through journal subscriptions or other licensed products; in others, it is through the provision of on-demand article purchasing and other resource sharing services. When obtaining journal subscriptions, the preferred medium is electronic, site-wide access through IP authentication. When considering subscriptions, the possibility of perpetual access is preferred, i.e., access to all years to which a subscription had been held.

Chronicle of Philanthropy off campus access

Remote IP authentication for off campus use will not be functional for a period of time starting on October 21 and lasting until January 2026.

In the meantime, IP authentication from on campus will continue to work as it always has. Remote authentication will also still be possible via domain access for faculty, staff, and students using accounts associated with our site license via their email addresses on our school email domain, @iu.edu.
