Diedrich A. Bohlen photograph
Diedrich A. Bohlen (1827-1890) came to America in 1851 from the German kingdom of Hanover. He moved to Indianapolis and founded an architectural firm that would become Bohlen, Meyer, Gibson & Associates, the oldest architectural firm in Indiana. His firm designed such famous Indianapolis landmarks as the Murat Temple and the Majestic Building. Bohlen himself designed the Morris-Butler House, the original St. Vincent's Hospital, Roberts Park Methodist Church, and the Convent of the Little Sisters of the
Poor.
