George Kessler, a native of Frankenhausen, Germany, served as the landscape architect for the Indianapolis Board of Park Commissioners from 1908 to 1915. He designed the parkways that run along White River and Fall Creek as well as many of the city's parks. Fall Creek Boulevard was one of his first projects for the city. Kessler Boulevard is named in his honor.
