Maennerchor season program, 1882-1883Carl Barus became the director of the Indianapolis Maennerchor in 1882, and the musical society used the publication of its 1882-1883 program to announce his appointment. Barus had been the conductor of musical societies in Cincinnati for several years and had served as the director of a music festival hosted in Indianapolis in 1858 by the Indiana Saengerbund. Barus served in his position with the Maennerchor until 1896.
