ACTIVITIES
Significant Projects
The Community Project facilitated local learning communities
of public libraries, museums, and schools by serving as a gateway
to local cultural heritage resources. Two of the projects significant
achievements were the Hoosier Artist Project and the Works Progress
Administration (WPA) Murals Project, which focused on providing
Internet access to local cultural heritage information.
A Summer Teachers Institute and five workshops designed to help
educators, librarians, and staff members learn how to use the
project resources were offered throughout the project. Teachers
who attended the Summer Institute received mini grants to develop
Instructional Units based on resources that were made available
via the project website. These instructional units are available
below for educators and librarians to incorporate into their curriculum
and programs.
