The Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives is pleased to offer travel grants of up to $1500 for researchers to use our collections to conduct archival research that results in publication of a book, academic article, dissertation, or thesis.
Collections eligible for this research grant are any material within the Philanthropic Studies Archives or National Service Archives. This grant excludes travel to use the Joseph and Matthew Payton Philanthropic Studies Library, the German American Archives, and the IU Indianapolis University Archives, except for the records of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Preference is given to graduate students, but independent researchers may be considered. Grants are open to students and scholars of any discipline. Grants are also open to IU students who live more than 3 hours away from the archives.

- What is your planned publication?
- How will this research be used in your planned publication?
- What other archival collections have you used, if any?
- What time frame you wish to visit, and a brief cost estimate of your travel needs, including hotel, milage or airfare, and per diem.
