Collections Fund
The Library's collections are the foundation of research and learning across campus, from textbooks journals to rare manuscripts archival materials found nowhere else. Collections Fund allows Library acquire new that support teaching scholarship, with a special emphasis on unique primary sources give students researchers direct access original historical cultural materials. A gift this fund helps ensure our keep pace evolving needs academic community.
University Library Diversity Scholars Fund
The University Library Diversity Scholars Program offers students a year-long, paid internship at the University Library. Paired with and mentored by a library expert, students help carry out special events and research initiatives, gaining professional experience and valuable skills along the way. Your gift to this fund helps provide an immersive work and learning experience for students interested in information management and librarianship.
Herron Art Library Fund
A generous gift in 2006 launched a unique collection that has earned a national reputation for the Herron Art Library, a full-service branch of the University Library located within the Herron School of Art + Design. The art library's collection of fine press and artists' books showcases contemporary artists from around the globe. A gift to this fund helps grow this collection and brings artists to campus to share their work and experiences with students, faculty, and the community.
Ruth Lilly Special Collections & Archives Fund
In addition to providing materials from commercial publishers, the Library also curates unique collections of primary source materials that are not available anywhere else in the world – some physical, some digital. Our Special Collections & Archives, named after the late philanthropist Ruth Lilly, includes a wide range of resources about the history of IU Indy, the city of Indianapolis, the state of Indiana, and beyond. A gift to this fund helps us preserve our shared history for the future.
University Library Student Opportunity Initiative
Library student employment is a high-impact educational practice. On-campus jobs help students stay in school, and the Library takes this responsibility seriously. On average, we employ more than 60 students a year, working about 16 hours per week and earning an average of $7,155 a year. Gifts to this student-focused fund create jobs that help students gain real-world skills, as well as deepen their understanding of research and scholarship.
University Library Unrestricted Fund
Student engagement is the strongest predictor of academic success, retention, and career readiness in higher education. It encompasses three dimensions — cognitive, emotional, and behavioral — that drive better learning outcomes, increase degree completion rates, and foster a stronger sense of belonging on campus. The Library directs unrestricted funds to the areas of greatest need, with a special focus on programs and events that promote student engagement and deepen students' connection with our people and resources.
