Each year the international community of open access advocates comes together to celebrate Open Access Week. The theme for this year is Open for Climate Justice.
The climate crisis impacts us all, each day—whether we realize it or not. However, these impacts are not borne equally, and the social inequalities exacerbated by climate change are well documented. Addressing the impacts of climate change requires scientific and technological solutions; policy changes and political will; and shifts in our values and behaviors as communities and individuals. To do this we need collective scientific, social, and cultural knowledge. If we have any hope of solving this crisis, then we need an open and global exchange of knowledge. Openness facilitates knowledge exchange and creates pathways toward solving the issues and injustices brought on by climate change.

This full-day hybrid event is hosted by the IU Bloomington Libraries and includes conversations with IU authors about their experience publishing open access. Environmental Justice Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

This hybrid event is co-hosted by the IUPUI Arts and Humanities Institute (IAHI), IUPUI University Library, and the IU Bloomington Libraires. Join to discuss and learn more about research related to environmental justice and receive training on how to edit Wikipedia. Participants will work together to improve and create Wikipedia articles about environmental justice and related issues. In this online asynchronous workshop, participants will get hands-on practice with tools and platforms to enhance the impact and visibility of their research or to discover research in their field.
