The IUPUI University Library seeks a Resource Sharing Librarian to lead its Resource Sharing & Delivery Services department. Resource Sharing and Delivery Services obtains research materials not available in University Library for IUPUI-affiliated patrons; provides loans and articles from material owned by University Library to other libraries; and manages the library mailroom and incoming and outgoing shipments. Resource sharing is a key element of the Library’s Resource Acquisition & Access Model, and the Resource Sharing Librarian is responsible for the vision, leadership, and management of all resource sharing services. The successful candidate will have experience using technology to innovate and improve services.
The Resource Sharing Librarian reports to the Director of Content Services, and works closely with colleagues to develop, maintain, and support on demand services and to support data-informed decision making regarding the Library’s resource access and on demand strategies. This is a tenure-track position, with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2023. Responsibilities
- Manage and provide leadership for all resource sharing operations, including vision, strategy, report preparation, and budgetary oversight
- Supervise 3 FTE staff and 1-2 student employees to ensure all interlibrary loan requests are being processed in a timely manner
- Use data and assessment techniques to support evidence-based innovations and improvements to resource sharing services, programs, and user experience
- Explore, recommend, implement, and evaluate new resource sharing initiatives
- Utilize existing and emerging technologies to innovate and improve resource sharing services
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop, implement, and assess policies, practices, and technologies designed to enhance library resource sharing
- Represent the library on appropriate University Library, Indiana University, and state committees
- Maintain awareness of current and emerging best practices in the field
Required Qualifications
- An ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science
- Experience working in resource sharing/interlibrary loan
- Knowledge of interlibrary loan processes, best practices, and management
- Experience with library systems (e.g., ILLiad, RapidILL, SirsiDynix, etc.)
- Experience using technology to innovate and/or improve library services
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technological problems and make decisions
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and implement projects
- Deep commitment to customer service
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently, contribute and collaborate effectively as a member of a team as well as lead a project group
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of US copyright law as it applies to library services
- Supervisory/leadership experience
- Project management and/or training experience
- Experience serving diverse and underrepresented student populations

Compensation and Application
Minimum salary is $54,000, with additional funding for professional development and travel. Benefits include 22 vacation days, 10 paid holidays, health/dental insurance options, and retirement contributions of 10% to a Fidelity Investments retirement plan.
