Nominations for the 2025 Open Education Award are Open

Dear Colleagues,

Do you know of an instructor that uses an open educational resource (OER) in the classroom?

If so please nominate them (or yourself) for the IU Indianapolis Open Education Award: https://forms.gle/Mcig6V38qxWQfUYb8

Since 2019, University Library has been highlighting the achievements of instructors who are increasing affordability and accessibility in education through the use of OER. The IU Indianapolis Open Education Award recognizes instructors that contribute to student success by using free, open, digital materials in the classroom. OER are any educational materials that are in the public domain or are licensed for adaptation and reuse. OER may include textbooks, chapters, online modules, assignments, audiovisual works, datasets and other digital products.  Browse our collection from previous winners and nominees in IU Indianapolis Scholarworks to see if your work aligns.

Eligible resources must:

  • Have an open license, such as Creative Commons or GNU, or be in the Public Domain
  • Be used in a classroom environment at IUI between 2020-2024
  • Be publicly accessible

The University Library is excited to celebrate the achievements of instructors across IU Indianapolis schools and departments. The winner will receive a $1,500 cash award, plaque, and will be featured on the University Library website.

Nominations are due on March 30th by the end of the day.

For any questions about OER or the award, feel free to reach out to Khrisma McMurray, OER Liaison
