We are happy to welcome Evan Miller as the newest member of University Library's Special Collections and Archives Team. We asked Evan to introduce himself and here's what he told us... As the Digital Preservation and Digital Collections Archivist, I oversee the University Library’s initiatives to implement digital preservation systems and policies for its distinctive collections, organize and describe born-digital and digitized materials in the Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives, and collaborate on digitization projects and digital collection development with the Center for Digital Scholarship and community partners. My research interests focus on system migrations, metadata remediation, crafting historical exhibits, Indiana and local history, and supporting the archival profession. I am currently the president of the Society of Indiana Archivists (2024-2026). I have had the opportunity to work at several Indiana-centric archives, libraries, and cultural heritage organizations during my career, including Butler University’s Department of Special Collections, Rare Books, and University Archives, Wabash College’s Robert T. Ramsay, Jr. Archival Center, the Indiana Historical Society Press, Indianapolis Museum of Art Archives and Stout Reference Library at Newfields, and the Hanover College Archives and Special Collections. I am a lifelong Hoosier, having grown up in Crawfordsville, Indiana and being an alum of Hanover College. I earned my M.L.I.S. and M.A. in Public History from IUPUI (now IU Indianapolis).
