ScholarWorks has been battling increased traffic from unwelcomed, mostly unidentified bots over the past week or so. On some days the number of visits from bots has reached over 50 million visits a day. This increased traffic has caused the site to repeatedly crash and remain unavailable for most users. The Center for Digital Scholarship has been hard at work trying to combat these bots; despite our efforts, we have not been able to improve site performance as of yet. While we continue to work on this problem, we acknowledge that users may continue to be unable to use ScholarWorks - and we recognize how frustrating that is. Rest assured, the Center is doing everything in its power to find a solution and get the site working regularly.
As a stopgap, traffic coming within the IU Indianapolis network (Wired, Wireless, and VPN) has been rerouted to an internal interface to avoid performance issues caused by the overly aggressive bots. If able, please use this internal interface when interacting with IU Indianapolis ScholarWorks simply by visiting from an IU Indianapolis network connection.
