INDIANAPOLIS — The Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives, in partnership with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, will host the 2026 National Service Archives Symposium, "Service as Learning," virtually on October 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET. Following opening remarks, the half-day program features three speakers from the national service field. Rowan Claypool, founder of Teach Kentucky, opens the sessions at 11 a.m.; his AmeriCorps partner program has placed nearly 600 college graduates in Kentucky classrooms over 25 years. John Bridgeland, who leads the Office of American Possibilities and the bipartisan democracy initiative More Perfect, speaks at 12:15 p.m. Nathan Dietz, a research professor at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy and research director at its Do Good Institute, closes out the speaker lineup at 1:30 p.m. The symposium draws on the themes and history discoverable in the National Service Archives, a collection at the University Library documenting the history of civic service and volunteerism in America.
