Jungclaus-Campbell

The Jungclaus-Campbell Company is the oldest general contractor company in Indianapolis. Established in 1875 by William P. Jungclaus and John A. Schumacher, the company has built many of the iconic buildings of Indianapolis including: the Madam Walker Theatre, the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, the Murat Temple, Circle Tower, and the Indiana State Library. For some time the company had been hoping to digitally preserve and share the highly unique content of their company safe including images capturing these iconic buildings during their construction phases as well as record books documenting the various bids and contractors participating in this work. University Library is honored to partner with Jungclaus-Campbell to preserve and share this collection with Hoosiers and beyond.

Learn more about the history of the Jungclaus-Campbell Mill from IU Indianapolis University Library Community Advisory Board Member, Author, and, local attorney Ed Fujawa through his blog, Class 900: Indianapolis.
