Call for Nominations: IU Indianapolis Open Education Award

University Library is now accepting nominations for the IU Indianapolis Open Education Award, which recognizes instructors who use free, openly licensed learning materials to support student success. Does this sound like you or a colleague? Then submit a nomination for them (or yourself).

Since 2019, this award has honored faculty and staff instructors who make learning more affordable, accessible, and flexible by using no-cost, shareable course materials—such as open textbooks, custom readings, videos, online modules, assignments, or other digital resources. You may already be engaging in this work whether or not you use the term Open Educational Resources (OER). What matters most is that your materials are free for students and shared so others can reuse or adapt them.

Eligible learning materials must:

  • Carry an open license (such as Creative Commons or GNU) or be in the public domain
  • Have been used in a classroom setting at IU Indianapolis between 2020–2024
  • Be publicly accessible

The award recipient will receive a $3,000 cash award, a recognition plaque, and a video spotlights. Learn more about the award. Nominations close on March 27, 2026 end of day. For any questions about the award, feel free to reach out to Khrisma McMurray, OER Librarian at IU Indianapolis.
